UK-based robotics company Humanoid announced a $152 million Series A funding round on July 21, 2026, bringing its post-money valuation to $1.35 billion. Founded in 2024, the company describes the transaction as the largest Series A raised by a humanoid-first robotics company in Europe and says it has become the region’s first pure-play humanoid robotics unicorn.
The significance of the funding extends beyond the headline valuation. Humanoid is assembling an industrial ecosystem that combines its own robot architecture and Physical AI software with the manufacturing, motion-control and factory-integration capabilities of established European suppliers.
Under this model, Bosch is expected to manufacture Humanoid’s HMND 01 robots for the European market, giving the startup access to an experienced industrial manufacturing partner rather than requiring it to build its entire production infrastructure internally. This arrangement could help Humanoid move from prototype assembly toward repeatable, quality-controlled production, although the actual production volumes and ramp-up schedule remain to be demonstrated.
Schaeffler is playing a dual role as both technology supplier and prospective customer. The companies’ strategic partnership covers the development and supply of humanoid components, including linear and rotary actuators designed for robot joints. Schaeffler has also agreed to purchase and deploy Humanoid robots within its global manufacturing network. Its actuator platforms are designed for high-volume production, low backlash, low friction and continuous industrial loads, characteristics that will be critical if humanoids are expected to operate reliably over full factory shifts.
The commercial relationship is potentially substantial. Reported plans cover the deployment of approximately 1,000 to 2,000 Humanoid robots across Schaeffler facilities by 2032, while Schaeffler is expected to supply more than half of the joint-actuator demand for Humanoid’s wheeled platforms through 2031. The component agreement could eventually represent a seven-digit quantity of actuators, depending on Humanoid’s production ramp.
Humanoid has also begun validating its technology in a Siemens manufacturing environment. Its HMND 01 Alpha wheeled humanoid was tested at Siemens’ electronics factory in Erlangen, Germany, where it performed autonomous intralogistics tasks. The robot was built using NVIDIA’s Physical AI stack, connecting robot perception and control with Siemens’ industrial automation and manufacturing environment. Siemens reported that the system completed autonomous logistics operations across a full shift, providing an early indication of how humanoids could be integrated into existing factory workflows.
This combination of partners illustrates a distinctly European route to humanoid commercialization:
- Humanoid develops the robot platform, fleet software and embodied-AI capabilities.
- Bosch provides industrial manufacturing capacity.
- Schaeffler supplies actuators and motion technology while also acting as a deployment customer.
- Siemens provides the factory environment, integration expertise and industrial software layer.
- NVIDIA supplies the compute, simulation and Physical AI infrastructure underpinning robot intelligence.
Rather than vertically integrating every layer of the technology stack, Humanoid is attempting to coordinate an existing network of European manufacturing and automation specialists. This approach could reduce capital requirements, accelerate industrialization and provide earlier access to real production environments. It may also help Europe compete with vertically integrated US companies and China’s increasingly dense robotics component ecosystem.
The ambition, however, remains far ahead of the company’s currently disclosed production scale. Humanoid reportedly aims to manufacture 150,000 robots in 2030 and generate billions of dollars in revenue by the preceding year. Reaching that level would require an exceptionally rapid transition from factory trials and initial commercial agreements to high-volume manufacturing, global servicing and reliable fleet operations.
The decisive indicators will therefore not be fundraising or announced production capacity alone. Investors and industry participants should watch:
- Sustained uptime during multi-shift factory operations;
- Autonomous task-completion rates without frequent human intervention;
- Mean time between failures for actuators, hands and mobile platforms;
- Integration time required for each new customer workflow;
- Robot utilization and cost per completed task;
- Maintenance, spare-parts and field-support requirements;
- Whether deployment economics remain attractive after pilot-stage subsidies and engineering support are removed.
Sector Signal
Humanoid’s financing suggests that Europe may pursue a federated model for humanoid robotics, built around alliances between robot startups, established component suppliers, industrial manufacturers and automation-platform providers.
The potential advantage is that Europe already possesses many of the capabilities required to industrialize humanoids: precision motion components, automotive-grade manufacturing, factory automation, simulation software and large industrial customers. The risk is coordination. A federated supply chain may scale more efficiently than a fully vertically integrated startup, but it can also introduce longer development cycles, divided technical ownership and dependency on multiple strategic partners.
The company’s valuation will ultimately be justified not by whether it can assemble a prestigious supplier network, but by whether that network can convert humanoid prototypes into reliable machines that complete economically valuable work at industrial scale.
